Saud Al-Babtain Cardiac Center in Dammam is the first specialized center affiliated with the Ministry of Health in the Eastern Province. With its high scientific and technical capabilities, the center is considered one of the most important centers specialized in the field of treating heart diseases and cardiac surgeries. The center provides distinguished free medical and surgical services that can be easily obtained, and at a high level for children and adults. The center operates on a self-operation system under the supervision of the General Directorate of Health Affairs in the Eastern Province. It meets the needs of the region’s residents (citizens and residents) as a specialized center that relieves them of the burden of obtaining this service from other distant centers where they remain on the long waiting list in order to obtain an appointment for review and treatment outside the region, not to mention the center’s role in alleviating the hardship and trouble of travel, housing, and being away from family and relatives, in addition to reducing the financial burdens on patients and the ministry that are spent on communications, booking travel tickets, transportation by ambulance, and treatment and follow-up expenses. Achievements: The center was the first center to provide pediatric cardiac surgery and pediatric cardiac intervention in the Eastern Province. *Saud Al-Babtain Cardiac Center is the first center affiliated with the Ministry of Health in the Eastern Province to perform beating heart surgery and minor surgeries in electrocardiography. *Commitment to achievement and reaching quality standards, as the application of quality standards in the center has become a roadmap to ensure patient safety and reduce medical errors.
